What is PBX and how is it different from traditional phone service?

PBX چیست و چه تفاوتی با سرویس تلفن سنتی دارد؟

PBX, the acronym for Private Branch Exchange, is the business communication system of corporate communications that drives calls and enables the switching of different parts within organizations.

You must have seen in the old movies that someone is sitting in a crowded room full of wires and manually transmitting calls. You might think that with today’s technology, this person’s work, which was first called today’s operator, is gone, and there are no more crowded, wiry rooms. Of course, all of this is still happening today. Communications across organizations are much wider and call transfer is more complex. The PBX is in charge of the former operators. Recently, PBXs have been using the Internet, rather than telecommunication protocols, to facilitate communication and have created IP-PBXs.

The PBXs that we are familiar with on central phones are designed to allow users to share a single city telephone line and have free extension instead of providing a separate telephone line for each user.

The PBX operates on a small scale like PSTN. The phone service is designed for a group (for example employees of a company), with no need to purchase a stand-alone phone line for each user. The PBX can be a hardware solution, such as a central phone, or use software methods on the VoIP platform. In fact, the PBX launches a private telephone network and the city lines are shared between people.

What is IP PBX?

The gradual replacement of copper lines with the Internet has made Internet Protocol (IP) the most common system used by companies. Providing and managing IP PBX communication and voice services based on IP. That is, all IP-based features and information can have a larger range of services and tools. In other modern telephone systems, the quality of calls is out of analog and all calls are made in digital and higher quality.

In fact, IP PBX is PBX, except that IP PBX is a software that is installed on a system and uses network platform instead of analog lines to communicate between employees. IP PBX uses VoIP technology, which means voice transmission over the IP platform. This allows a limited number of PSTNs to be distributed among an unlimited number of users.

IP PBX is a more flexible and cheaper method than PBX, so it is a more complete solution for the growth of businesses than the previous model.

 What is Hosted PBX?

Hosted PBX is a cloud based solution. That is, the entire organization’s telephone system is hosted by the service provider. All service, hardware, software and maintenance are the responsibility of the Service Provider. And unlike previous models that require huge investment in equipment purchases, maintenance and continuing education, this service drastically reduces costs without the need for any hardware or software. The subscriber of the service provider receives the Virtual Call Center with the capacity required and pays for it monthly, annually or any other agreed model.

Today, one of the most popular communication solutions for businesses is Hosted PBX, as it significantly reduces costs and does not have the limitations of traditional PBXs. It is also quick to set up and shared. Hosted PBX systems are a modern and cost-effective solution with distinct features for up-to-date communication inside and outside organizations.
